7 killed, 30 injured in Tangail road accident

At least seven people were killed and 30 others injured as a bus upturned and fell into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Gungram of Ghatail municipality area in Tangail Tuesday night.

The dead were Abdur Rahim, 32, village Dikpaid under Dhanbari upazila in Tangail, Nur-e Alam, 30, of Sonargaon upazila town in Narayanganj, Motahar Hossain, 28, of Banagram under Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur, Saidul Islam, 25, of Sarishabari upazila town in Jamalpur and Shanta, 25, Asma Begum, 25, and Chandan, 32, of Gopalpur upazila sadar in Tangail district, said Ghatail police station’s duty officer..
Tangail superintendent of police Md Mahabub Alam said the Dhanbari bound bus of Binimoy Paribahan from Dhaka met the fatal accident when it’s driver lost control over steering and fell into a roadside ditch as the driver had been overtaking another bus at the spot around 10:30pm.

At least seven people died on the spot and 30 others were injured, he said.

The injured ones were taken to Ghatail upazila health complex and other local clinics, he said.
